What are descriptions and work types?

Descriptions (also referred to as work types) are categories or labels that can be applied to dictations to indicate the type of document being created. Examples include Letter, Report, Referral, Attendance Note, Minutes, or any custom category relevant to your organisation. Work types serve several purposes: they help secretaries identify the nature of a dictation before beginning transcription, they can trigger automatic routing rules (directing specific work types to specific secretaries or pools), and they can be linked to templates to automatically apply the correct document structure.

Adding a description

For guidance on how to add a new description or work type to your Dictalogic account, see the knowledge base article “How to add a new description?” For guidance on editing an existing description, see “How to edit a description?”

Administrator configuration

Administrators can manage the full list of descriptions available to users, create new types, edit existing ones, and deactivate types that are no longer in use. Contact your administrator to add or modify work types for your organisation.
