Check physical connection
Ensure your USB microphone is firmly connected to a working USB port. Try a different USB port if available. For 3.5mm microphones, ensure the connector is fully inserted into the correct audio input socket.
Check windows sound settings
Open the Windows Sound settings (right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds or Open Sound Settings). Navigate to the Recording or Input tab and confirm your microphone is listed and set as the default recording device. Check the input level meter; it should respond when you speak.
Check microphone permissions in your browser
If using the Dictalogic web portal, your browser must have permission to access the microphone. Check your browser’s site permissions and ensure the Dictalogic portal is permitted to use the microphone. You may be prompted to allow microphone access when you first attempt to record.
Test in another application
Test the microphone in another application (such as the Windows Voice Recorder) to confirm the hardware is working. If the microphone does not work in any application, it may require a driver update or hardware replacement.
