Behaviour during a dropped connection
Speech Anywhere requires a continuous internet connection to transcribe your voice in real time. If the connection drops during an active dictation session, transcription will stop. Any text that was successfully transcribed and inserted into your application before the connection dropped will be retained. Words spoken during the outage will not be captured or recovered.
Reconnecting
Once your internet connection is restored, you can resume dictating normally by pressing the record button again. The widget should reconnect automatically.
Preventing data loss
To minimise the impact of connectivity interruptions, it is recommended to dictate in shorter bursts and review transcribed text regularly rather than dictating long passages without reviewing. Save your document frequently. Use a reliable wired network connection or a stable Wi-Fi connection.
For environments with unreliable connectivity
If your environment frequently experiences internet outages, consider using the standard Dictalogic Cloud Dictation workflow, which allows audio to be recorded offline and uploaded when a connection is restored.
