Does Speech Anywhere work offline?

Does it work offline?

No. Speech Anywhere requires an active internet connection to function. Your voice is processed by Microsoft Azure Cognitive Speech Services in the cloud, which means your audio must be transmitted to and from Dictalogic’s servers in real time. Without an internet connection, the widget will not be able to transcribe your speech.

What happens if my connection drops mid dictation?

If your internet connection is interrupted while you are dictating, transcription will pause. Any text that was already transcribed and inserted into your application before the connection dropped will remain. Text that was spoken during the outage will not be captured. When the connection is restored, you can resume dictating normally.

Recommendations

Use a stable, wired network connection or a reliable Wi-Fi connection when dictating. If you work in an environment with frequent connectivity issues, consider the standard Dictalogic Cloud Dictation solution, which allows audio to be recorded offline and synchronised to the cloud once a connection is restored.
